Haryana Farmers to Sell Trees via E-Auction

Now Farmers Can Sell Their Trees Through E-Auction – A New Initiative to Increase Farmers’ Income
A big and positive news has come for the farmers of Haryana. Now the farmers of the state will be able to sell agroforestry (Agroforestry) trees growing in their fields- such as eucalyptus (Eucalyptus) and poplar (Poplar)- directly through e-auction (e-auction). This new system has been started by Haryana Forest Development Corporation, whose main objective is to free farmers from middlemen and help them get the right and better price for their produce.
Information about this initiative was given in the 146th board meeting of HFDC, which was chaired by Chairman and Additional Chief Secretary Sudhir Rajpal. This decision is being considered a major reform for the agriculture and forestry sector in the state.
🌱 What is this new E-Auction system?
E-auction is a digital process in which farmers can sell their trees through an online platform. Earlier, farmers had to depend on local traders or middlemen to sell their trees, due to which they often did not get the right price. But now, through this new system, farmers themselves will be involved in the selling process of their trees and will get fair value with more transparency.
In this process, farmers will have to list their trees on the HFDC e-auction portal, where buyers from across the country will be able to place bids.
🌳 Which trees can farmers sell?
Under this scheme, farmers will mainly be able to sell agroforestry trees, which include:
- Eucalyptus
- Poplar
- Other commercial trees grown in fields
These trees are used in the timber industry, plywood, paper mills, and furniture manufacturing, due to which they have good demand in the market.
📝 How will the application process be?
Under this new system, the farmer will have to follow a simple process:
1. Application submission
Interested farmers will submit their application to the General Manager of Haryana Forest Development Corporation in their area.
2. Survey and marking of trees
After the application, the HFDC team will visit the fields, inspect the trees, and mark them.
3. Price determination based on volume
Based on the size, number, and volume of the trees, a reserve price (minimum price) will be fixed.
4. Farmer’s participation
If farmers want, they can also decide the minimum price for their trees themselves.
5. Listing on e-auction portal
After this, the trees will be listed on the e-auction portal, where buyers will place bids.
6. Bid information and approval
When the bidding is completed, the farmer will be informed. The deal will be finalized only after the farmer’s approval.
💰 Payment and fee system
In this scheme, the most important thing is that the payment process will be completely transparent and secure.
- HFDC will take only 5% service charge (for farmers)
- For institutions, this charge is kept at 10%
- The remaining full amount will be directly transferred to the farmer’s bank account
Because of this, there will be no risk of cash transactions or fraud for farmers.
📈 Increase in farmers’ income
The government expects that with this new system, farmers’ income can increase by around 25%. The main reasons are:
- Removal of middlemen
- Participation of more buyers
- Better price due to competitive bidding
This step is an important initiative towards making farmers financially strong.
🤝 Relief from middlemen
Till now, farmers had to depend on middlemen to sell their trees, who often paid low prices and earned higher profits themselves. Because of this, farmers were not able to get the full benefit of their hard work.
Through e-auction:
- Farmers will connect directly with buyers
- They will get the correct market price
- Protection from fraud and exploitation
🌍 Step towards transparency and Digital India
This initiative is a big step under the Digital India mission. It will not only increase transparency but also connect farmers with modern technology.
Benefits of digital platform:
- Record of every bid will be maintained
- All processes can be tracked online
- Buyers from across the country can participate
🌾 Boost to agroforestry
This scheme will also promote agroforestry. Farmers will not depend only on crops, but they can also earn extra income by growing trees.
Benefits of agroforestry:
- Improvement in soil fertility
- Water conservation
- Environmental balance
- Source of additional income
🚜 Why is this scheme important for farmers?
This scheme is beneficial for farmers in many ways:
- New income opportunities
- Reduction in risk
- Direct access to market
- Better price and transparency
Especially for small and medium farmers, this can become a big support.
🔍 Challenges and solutions
Although this scheme is very beneficial, some challenges can also come:
Challenges:
- Lack of digital knowledge
- Internet problems in rural areas
- Lack of technical understanding
Solutions:
- Training programs by the government
- Help centers at Panchayat level
- Mobile app and helpline facility
📊 What can happen in the future?
If this scheme remains successful, then in future it can be implemented in other states also. Along with this:
- More types of trees can be included
- Process can become easier through mobile app
- International buyers can also be connected
🧾 Conclusion
This initiative of the Haryana government can prove to be a game-changer for farmers. Selling trees through e-auction will not only make farmers financially strong but will also help them become self-reliant.
This step is a strong effort towards digital revolution in the agriculture sector, through which farmers will get the right value for their hard work and they will be able to move towards a better future.
If you are also a farmer and grow trees in your fields, then this opportunity can be very beneficial for you. Now it is time to adopt technology and increase your income.
